And I thought I got bored of Japanese street fashion. Lesson learned: you never know.
Yeah, I forgot that my webcam takes pictures in mirror-image. I don't know how to fix it! >.<"
OMG OMG TAKUYA ANGEL!!! I've been a fan ever since I picked up that FRESH FRUiTS Harajuku street fashion photo book back when I was a Year 7 brat. Still a fan though, still a fan. His takes on traditional kimono and samurai gear and mixing it with modern-day influences (bright-coloured PVC and awesome alien headgear!) is totally awesome. Takuya Angel is also a DJ, you know? (Yeah, I knew.)
Page on your left shows some of the gear available at TA (fake fur gloves with claws! Drawstring bags made from kimono fabric! Can't stop inserting exclamation marks!). Page on the right shows Takuya and his wife, Akiko. One of my favourite items from TA is a jacket that can also be used as a skirt. If I could only buy one thing from TA, I'd definitely buy that. Otherwise, I think I'll have to keep saving... >.>
The Look Book even includes an interview with the editor of FRUiTS magazine, Shoichi Aoki!! OMG!!! If it wasn't for this guy I wouldn't even be typing this stuff to begin with!
My much-loved and tattered FRESH FRUiTS book, an English-language release of some of the best photos featured in the Japanese FRUiTS magazine. I've looked everywhere to find the original magazine, but seeing as I live on the other side of the world, it's extremely hard to find... ^_^"
At this point I got carried away and accidentally poked my eye with the corner of the book. Here's a picture of me crying in one eye. T_> (Yeah, that smiley was fail.)
One thing I got interested in by the Look Book (that I'm not already interested in) was the high-end brand Comme Des Garcons. Despite the Frenchy name, the designer is Japanese Rei Kawakubo. Now, I've heard of this brand before ('cause you know, anything I stumble over that's somehow connected to Japan I'll be interested in) but all I saw were runway photos. I don't get that excited by runway photos. I'm sorry I'm just not the "real" fashion type... If I get interested in some kind of clothing, it's probably because I saw someone on the street wear it, or if I actually see the garment on a coathanger and I automatically think "Oh yeah, you can wear it this way or that way". I really do think this street fashion stuff rubbed off onto me farr too much. Kekeke.
WELL... I saw some street photos of people wearing Comme Des Garcons and I was baffled. It was awesome. I never liked a brand in any way similar to this one, but now I think I have a new obsession. The bad thing is, now I have to save up for Takuya Angel AND Rei Kawakubo!! *groan*
And something I realised is, when I have an obsession, it starts to follow me. For example, a week ago I searched "teen blogger" and found Tavi G.'s fashion blog (she's an avid fan of Rei Kawakubo, I think I'm slowly turning into her 0_0). Then the next morning, I got a magazine that I usually read, read my favourite entertainment column, and her name showed up in the paragraphs. Another example was when I just got into Graniph t-shirts, I went to the supermarket and a guy was wearing one. Ahhh freaky~
Well, I guess it's a good thing. Just a creepy thing too...
At this point, my keyboard is begging me to stop typing, so I'll just go now. Cyas.
