ANYWAYS, first thing's first, Japanese short animations!! I've developed an obsession with them recently because of frequent NHK World marathons I've been having (you need a pretty huge satellite to get the channel, or watch online...). I like some shows, but it's mostly news bulletins (IN BETWEEN EVERY SHOW-what were they thinking?) and documentaries of stuffs...
My favourite program is Digista:
["digital Stadium," also known as "digista" is NHK's popular TV show that invites Japan's new artists to submit a wide range of digital art works for comments and advice from leading professionals active in the field. "digista" is dedicated to supporting and nurturing young artists, helping to create a new visual culture for the digital era.]
(Above from NHK website)
They often show short animations with little or no dialogue made by these artists. Started to subscribe to all of them on YouTube hehe~
Here's my favourite one. It's in three parts. Please watch in order:
I probably like it a lot because of its weirdness and eerie feel. It's probably because there's a talking cheese and all the voices were done by a computer... And it feels very familiar too, I think it's the dark setting and omg, talking animated animals. You don't know how many of those appear in my sleep...
Okay enough weird/surreal nerd art talk, I have a rant to make. Not any other rant, this is the Christmas Edition Rant.
I don't like Christmas movies. They're annoying. Now, I'm not saying I don't like Christmas, in fact, I love it! Even though I don't celebrate it it's great to see everyone happy and Christmas sales aren't that bad, either. But I don't get the point of movies. Sure, you can have the "Christmas Edition" of an existing show/movie, I understand that, but I don't understand why there is a need to make full-blown Christmas movies that would already have been forgotten by the time it's New Years' Eve. The next time you'll probably see it is next Xmas, when they'll show re-runs of it on TV. It's not much entertainment anyway.
I'll shut up now. Happy Xmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa or if you're not celebrating anything, Happy Boxing Day Sales Shopping.
