the k-pop revival.

Okay, let me tell you a story. If you scroll back through the deepest darkest depths of my archive, probably starting from 2008, you will see quite a few K-pop references. I was a total SuJu fangirl back then, and although I still like their music, I'm not as into it as I was well... back in 2008/9. And with the split of TVXQ, and new boybands/girlbands popping up every second week, I fell out of the loop quite quickly, only focusing on Super Junior, TVXQ and SHINee from then onwards. Occasionally I would take interest in F(x) or SNSD, I'm not as much of a fan of girlbands, naturally.

Super Junior released Sorry Sorry. I liked it and pretty much at that time it was only me and a couple of friends in my school who even acknowledged K-pop's existence. Well, not really, Sometime's I'd tell someone about it and they'd all be like, "What, Asian music? Girl you crazy". That's a comment I get quite a lot, about a lot of things.

So I was into Sorry Sorry for probably a couple of months when SOMEHOW people started getting into it, and I seriously didn't tell them or anything; it just happened. By this time I couldn't be bothered anymore, and I'll just know if SHINee releases a new song or whatever, but not a fandom kind of thing.

A week ago, SHINee visited Australia to perform Replay (Nuna neomu yeppeo), Lucifer and Hello at some Australia-Korea Friendship Concert thingy. You could only get tickets through a raffle, which was sad, but my friend got tickets but I still didn't go. Not even to the airport to stalk them (I had a maths test that day). But you could say that it was this event that resurfaced my fandom for K-pop. Right now I have some Korean music awards ceremony streaming on another tab, so I guess so...

And I have met some people who are just awful fans. Yes, I said that right. It's just that they have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER about the whole, how do you say it, "culture" of K-pop and just - the stuff that comes out of their mouths just kill me. Like... gah! They have no idea on what's good/bad or anything, they're just fans because it's "in" or because the guys are hot. Well, I say this , and I hope you really take it into consideration: GTFO.

Of course, there are some Korean bands that are just terrible, you just have to watch the first half hour of a Korean music variety show to know. The costumes and dance moves make them look like they're entertaining little kids; it's annoying. But there is real talent in some of the more popular bands.

Also on another note, TVXQ splitting up was sad. I hate the two-part TVXQ - mostly because of their choice of costumes... it's hideous. The songs are still good, but, it's not TVXQ. I think JYJ is better, and there's a rumour that they'll visit Australia soon. They have visited here before, right after the court case that split the band up ended. Just for a holiday, though.

Okay I only had 2 hours sleep last night and I have to go to tutoring tomorrow morining, so I'm just going to wrap it up there. I'm sorry if this didn;t really make much sense to you, but I AM half asleep and usually I would explain further, but my brain is ceasing to function slowly...
